Which Squarespace plans can you choose?
Squarespace lists four website plans: Basic, Core, Plus and Advanced. Each step up adds selling and marketing features, and you can pay monthly or yearly. Pick the plan for what you will actually do in the next year, not for features you might use one day.
We have not printed pound prices here. When we checked on 29 October 2026, the pricing page showed prices for the visitor's location, and our check did not run from the UK. Open it yourself, switch between yearly and monthly billing, and write down both totals for the plan you need.
A brochure site for a local service rarely needs the advanced selling tools. A shop taking orders every day might, and the next sections show why the plan you choose changes your fees as well as your monthly price.
Is paying yearly cheaper than paying monthly?
Yes, per month, but you pay the whole year at once. The Squarespace pricing page says paying annually saves up to 36%, shows prices including estimated VAT, and lists a lower monthly equivalent for every plan on yearly billing. The trade is less flexibility.
Yearly billing also changes what you get. Only annual plans include a free domain for the first year, which the next section covers. Monthly billing suits you if you are not sure the site will last the year, but you pay more for that freedom.

What does the Squarespace domain cost after year one?
It renews at the standard rate. Squarespace includes one year of free domain registration with annual website plans, on domains in its lowest price tier. Monthly plans do not qualify. After that first year, the domain renews automatically and Squarespace charges your card 15 days before the renewal date.
Both points come from Squarespace's help pages on the free first-year domain and on domain renewals and what you pay. Put the renewal date in your diary so the charge does not surprise you.

What extra costs come with a Squarespace website?
Store fees, email, extensions and your own time. On the Basic plan, Squarespace charges a transaction fee when you sell products, services or donations online, and upgrading removes it. Card processing fees still apply on every plan. If you sell often, that fee can cost more than the step up to a higher plan, so work out both.
- Transaction fees on Basic if you sell online
- Business email on your own domain, if you want one
- Paid extensions for bookings or other tools
- A cookie banner if your site sets non-essential cookies
- Time to build pages, write copy and keep details current
The cookie point is a legal one, not a Squarespace one. The Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) guidance on cookies says you must tell people about cookies, explain what they do and get active consent. A mention in your privacy policy alone is not consent.
How should a UK owner compare Squarespace with a managed website?
Compare two-year totals, not headline monthly prices. Add the plan for 24 months, the domain renewal, any fees and extensions, and the hours you will spend on the site. Then set that against a managed plan where the build and updates are done for you.
Buzzozo's Website plan is from £149 a month for the first 100 businesses, locked for life, and from £299 a month after that, with £0 upfront. We build the site and keep it up to date for you. Common questions
Does Squarespace have a free trial?
Yes. Squarespace's pricing page says you can use it free for 14 days. That lets you build pages and test the editor before you pay for a plan.
Do monthly Squarespace plans include a free domain?
No. Squarespace's help pages say the free first-year domain comes only with annual website plans, on domains in its lowest price tier.
Does Squarespace take a fee when you sell online?
On the Basic plan, Squarespace charges a transaction fee on online sales of products, services or donations. Moving to a higher plan removes that fee.
