What should a bakery website do?
A customer checking your bakery wants to know what you bake, when they can collect it, and whether it suits their dietary needs. Your website answers those questions on a phone, then gives one clear next step: ask the bakery or request a cake.
The daily menu earns its place at the front. Show the breads, pastries and cakes you actually sell, with prices and any order cut-off. A custom-cake page explains servings, design choices, lead time and the details you need before you confirm a date.
This is a different job from a restaurant or cafe website. A bakery site puts the daily bake, made-to-order cakes, allergen details and collection first, rather than table bookings. Your own photos and words keep it specific to your bakery.
From a morning loaf to a celebration cake: what does each customer need?
| Menu and prices | A customer looking for today’s bake. Breads, pastries, cakes and any seasonal ranges, with clear prices and portion sizes. Mark what is baked daily and what needs ordering ahead, so a trip is not wasted. |
|---|---|
| Custom-cake enquiry form | Someone planning a birthday or celebration. Ask for the date, servings, flavours, design, dietary needs and a photo if they have one. The form starts the conversation; you confirm the design, price and collection with the customer. |
| Allergen information | A customer checking ingredients before ordering. Product-specific allergen details, a clear route to ask about cross contamination, and a note when recipes change. The online information works alongside your labels and staff process. |
| Collection times and order cut-offs | A customer planning when to order and collect. Opening hours, order deadlines, collection slots and holiday changes in plain words. Let a customer request a preferred slot, then confirm it before taking payment. |
| Product photography | A customer choosing by eye. Your own close-up photographs of the crumb, finish and serving sizes. Show the real cake styles you offer, with useful alternative text and no stock photograph pretending to be your work. |
| Seasonal updates | A regular customer looking for something new. A simple place for seasonal bakes, changed hours and pre-order dates. We agree which updates belong in your plan, so the page stays current without promising instant stock levels. |
Your own website includes only the parts your bakery needs. A sole baker might start with the menu, cake enquiries and collection details. A larger bakery might add wholesale information and several product ranges.
What should a bakery website say about allergens?
Make the details easy to find. The Food Standards Agency lists 14 allergens that food businesses must tell consumers about when used as ingredients or processing aids (Food Standards Agency: allergen information for non-prepacked foods). We put your current product information on the menu or one clear click from it, following the agency’s online-menu guidance.
Cover ordering and collection. For non-prepacked food sold online or by telephone, the agency says written allergen information should be available before the order and at delivery (Food Standards Agency: distance selling and pre-ordering). Your order form links to the details, while your collection sheet or labels repeat them for the right items.
Keep the human route. If your online information is not current, customers must still be able to get it easily. The website says how to ask your team, and your order process asks whether allergen information is required. Customisations belong on the written information, and any cross-contamination risk is explained (Food Standards Agency: written information and cross contamination).
Make no blanket “allergen-free” promise. We write only what your recipes and kitchen process support, and you approve every word. The website does not replace staff checks, labels or your own legal advice.
How do we build your bakery website remotely?
Buzzozo works with independent bakeries remotely across the UK by phone, WhatsApp and email. You know your bakes, lead times and customers; we turn that into a website you can check between batches.
- Tell us about the bakery. Your menu, prices, custom-cake choices, order cut-offs, collection hours and current allergen information. Send your own product and shop photos if you have them.
- Write the words. We draft the menu, cake-enquiry and collection pages from what you tell us. You approve every word before launch, and we never invent dietary claims, reviews or customer results.
- Set the enquiry route. Decide where each request goes: one inbox, WhatsApp or the person who manages cake orders. We ask the questions you always need before confirming a bake.
- Try the live website. During the free 14-day trial you test the pages and enquiry route on a real website. No card is needed, and you can cancel any time.
- Hand over the upkeep. We look after Buzzozo cloud hosting, SSL and software updates. Send us menu changes, seasonal bakes or new collection hours. Anything outside the plan’s agreed scope is quoted before work starts.
For example, an independent bakery could list its daily menu, take celebration-cake enquiries and show collection slots. A bakery with several shops might add shop-specific hours and contact details. These are planning examples, not named projects or promised outcomes.
Try your own bakery website free for 14 days, no card needed. If you already have a website, tell us which pages, menu details and links you want to keep.

Questions bakery owners ask about their website
Can customers order a custom cake through my website?
Yes. The Website plan includes a custom-cake enquiry form that collects the date, servings, design and dietary details. You confirm the order and price with the customer. Live payments and automated booking are scoped and quoted separately.
Can I show allergen information for every bake?
Yes. We add your current product-specific information and link it from the menu and enquiry route. You keep it accurate, and your labels and staff process cover collection or delivery. We do not make a blanket allergen-free claim.
Can I change the daily menu or mark something sold out?
Yes. Send us the menu change, seasonal bake or sold-out notice. We agree which updates your plan covers. Automated stock levels and live inventory links are separate custom work.
Can customers choose a collection time?
They can request a preferred date and slot, and your team confirms it. The page shows your opening hours, order cut-offs and holiday changes. Live slot booking with capacity limits is scoped separately.
