What do parents check before they visit a nursery?
Choosing a nursery is a big decision, and parents read carefully. They want to know whether you take children of their age, which days and sessions you offer, what it costs once funded hours are counted and whether you have a place. Then they look at your Ofsted report and at photographs of the rooms and garden.
A clear website answers those questions before the first call, so the parents who ring are ready to visit. How could a parent's visit request work?
Illustrative enquiry: a parent going back to work next spring looks for nurseries near home. On your site they see that your baby room takes children from nine months, read how funded hours work with your fees, open your Ofsted report and ask to visit on a Tuesday morning. You call back to arrange a time.
The form asks for the parent's name, phone number and preferred visit times. It does not ask for the child's name or date of birth; those come later, through your own registration process.
How much does a nursery website cost in the UK?
Published UK guides give general small business figures, not a separate price for nurseries. Startups.co.uk (updated 23 March 2026) puts a basic website from a web designer at around £300 to £1,000, and a website builder you run yourself at £1.99 to £259 a month. Not at the first step. A visit request needs the parent's name, contact details and a good time to visit. Collect a child's name and date of birth later, through your own registration process, and only what you need for it.
Can the website explain funded hours?
Yes. We explain how funded hours work at your nursery, using the sessions, fees and any charges for meals or consumables you tell us about, and link to GOV.UK so parents can check their own eligibility. We do not tell a family they will qualify.
Can we link to our Ofsted report?
