What is the best AI website builder for a small business?

The best AI website builder is the one whose draft you can check, correct and keep up to date. Wix, Squarespace, Hostinger, GoDaddy and Framer all write a first draft from a short description. Every draft still needs a person to fix the facts, the wording and the search basics before it goes live.

A café owner sits at a laptop as a robot builds website blocks and a helper checks the page, showing AI drafting a site for a human to review.

What does an AI website builder do?

An AI website builder asks a few questions about your business, then writes a first draft of your site. It picks a layout, writes headings and text, and suggests images. You then edit the draft, connect a domain and publish it.

The draft is a starting point, not a finished site. The AI only knows what you tell it, plus general patterns from other websites. It does not know your prices, your service area or why customers choose you, unless you type those in.

This guide looks only at builders that write the site for you. For a wider comparison of builders, designers and managed sites, read our guide to the best website builder for a UK small business.

Which AI website builders can you use in the UK?

Five well-known builders with AI drafting are open to UK businesses: Wix, Squarespace, Hostinger, GoDaddy and Framer. Each writes a first draft from a short description. The prices below are what each builder showed when we checked on 29 October 2026, so check the live page before you buy.

  • Wix. Wix says you can create a website with AI by describing what you want, and you can start for free with no credit card required. You need a paid Premium plan to connect your own domain. Wix shows prices by location, so check the UK price when you sign up.
  • Squarespace. Its AI builder turns a description of your business into a personalised starting site. The Squarespace pricing page showed the Basic plan at £10 a month when paid annually, or £15 a month paid monthly. It is free for 14 days.
  • Hostinger. Hostinger asks you to describe your idea, and its AI builds the site. The Hostinger UK website builder page showed £114.72 paid up front for 48 months, renewing at £10.99 a month for the same term. That is an introductory price, so read the renewal line first.
  • GoDaddy. GoDaddy says a few prompts are enough for its builder to generate your pages in minutes. The GoDaddy UK builder page showed the Starter plan at £7.49 a month, billed annually. You can start for free with 50 AI credits a month.
  • Framer. Framer has an AI agent that creates editable pages, sections, copy and visuals in your project. The Framer pricing page listed the Basic plan at €10 per month, in euros, with any sales tax added at checkout.

Hostinger offered 14 days free when we checked, too. All five can produce a decent first draft in an afternoon. The difference shows later, when you need to change a price, add a page or fix a problem on a busy day.

What are the limits of AI website builders?

AI builders write generic copy, can state wrong facts and leave search basics and ownership for you to check. None of these is a reason to avoid them. They are reasons to check every page before it goes live, and to know who looks after the site afterwards.

  • Generic copy. AI drafts tend to sound like every other site in your trade. A line like "quality service at fair prices" tells a customer nothing about you.
  • Wrong facts. A draft can invent opening hours, services or a service area. Google guidance on AI-generated content warns that generative AI outputs may contain inaccuracies, and says to fact check and review all of it before publishing.
  • Search basics. A draft may skip page titles, descriptions and headings that match what your customers search for. Search engine optimisation (SEO) still needs someone who knows your customers and your area.
  • Ownership. Your site lives on the platform of the builder. Check who owns the domain, whether you can export your words and images, and what happens to the site if you stop paying.

Using AI to help write your pages is not the problem in itself. The risk is publishing pages nobody has checked. One short, accurate page that answers real questions is worth more than ten generic ones.

How do you choose the best AI website builder for your business?

Choose the builder whose draft you can check, correct and keep up to date without help. The first price matters less than you think, because the renewal price and your own time cost more over a year. Run this checklist before you pay for anything.

  • Give each builder the same short description of your business and compare the drafts side by side.
  • Check every fact in the draft: services, prices, areas covered, opening hours and contact details.
  • Rewrite the headline and opening lines in your own words, so customers know what you do and where.
  • Find the renewal price, not only the first price, and note whether it includes VAT.
  • Connect your own domain, and make sure it is registered in your name.
  • Check that each page has its own title and description, and that the site works on a phone.
  • Decide who will update the site when your prices or hours change.

What does this look like for a small café?

Here is an illustration, not a named customer. A café owner types "family café, breakfast and lunch, dog friendly" into an AI builder. Within minutes the builder offers a home page, a menu page and a contact page with stock photos.

The draft looks good, but the owner finds three problems. It lists opening hours until 6pm, when the café shuts at 3pm. It offers catering for events, which the café does not do. The menu page has no prices.

Fixing those takes an hour. Writing a clear opening line, adding real photos and checking the site on a phone takes another afternoon. After launch, someone still has to change the menu each season. That ongoing work is the part to plan for before you choose.

When is a managed website built with AI help the better choice?

A managed website is the better choice when you would rather run your business than run your website. You get the speed of AI drafting, but a person checks every page and fixes the facts. You do not need to learn a builder or remember a renewal date.

Buzzozo works this way. Our managed website service uses AI to draft your pages quickly. Then our team checks the wording, the facts and the search basics before anything goes live. We host the site and look after it for you from then on.

How much does a managed website cost compared with a builder?

A builder costs less each month, but you do the work. On our plans and prices page, the Buzzozo Website plan is from £149 a month for the first 100 businesses. Design, hosting and updates are included, so there is no separate bill for a designer.

You can see the difference before you pay anything. Start a free 14-day trial: we build your new website, and it is free for 14 days, no card needed. Check the pages with your own details, then keep it or walk away owing nothing.

Common questions

Is there a free AI website builder?

Several builders let you start without paying. Wix and GoDaddy say no credit card is required to start, and Squarespace and Hostinger offered 14 days free when we checked. To use your own domain name you normally need a paid plan.

Can an AI website builder write all my website content?

It can write a first draft of every page, but it cannot know your prices, hours or what makes you different. Treat the draft as a starting point, then replace general lines with your own facts and words.

Will Google mark down a website written with AI?

Google guidance focuses on whether content is accurate and helpful, not on how it was written. It warns against using AI to churn out many pages mainly to rank. Check every fact and write for your customers.

Do I own a website built with an AI builder?

You own your words and photos, but the site usually runs on the platform of the builder. Register your domain in your own name, and check whether you can export your content before you commit. Moving to another builder often means rebuilding the design.

How long does it take to build a website with AI?

The first draft takes minutes. Checking facts, writing your own opening lines, adding real photos and testing on a phone takes longer. For a small business site, plan for at least an afternoon of checking before you publish.

Is a managed website worth it compared with an AI builder?

It is worth it if your time is better spent on customers than on editing pages. A builder is cheaper each month. A managed website costs more, but a person checks the facts and looks after the site for you.

Can I try a Buzzozo website before paying?

Yes. Start the free 14-day trial and we build your new website first, with no card needed. Check it with your own details, then keep it on a plan or walk away owing nothing.
