HomeAI for your businessAI for charities

AI for charities that handles the admin, not the decisions.

AI for charities is most useful in the office: replying to supporters, organising volunteer enquiries and drafting grant applications for a person to check. Buzzozo builds your website and an AI chat assistant for admin and enquiry support with human review, working from the information and policies your trustees approve. It collects what your team needs and passes every decision back to a named person. It never handles safeguarding concerns, takes donations or gives legal, financial or medical advice.

Where can AI help a charity?

Small charity teams answer the same questions every week. Supporters ask how to give or join an event, volunteers ask what roles are open, people ask whether a service is for them, and a grant deadline lands on top of it all. An assistant can handle the routine part from wording you approve, so questions are answered out of hours and the details are waiting for your team.

Routine charity admin and the human handover
Supporter repliesAnswer approved questions about events, ways to give and how funds are used, then pass anything personal, unusual or about a past gift to a person.
Volunteer enquiriesExplain the roles you have published and collect availability, interests and contact details for your coordinator. Interviews, references and DBS checks stay with your team.
Service enquiriesAnswer approved questions about opening times, who a service is for and how referrals work, then route the person to the right team member.
Grant-application draftsDraft sections from your approved project summary, figures and past reports, and list the facts still missing. A person checks every figure and outcome before anything is submitted.
Questions that need a personSafeguarding concerns, anyone who may be at risk, complaints, casework and legal, financial or medical questions go straight to a named person. The AI does not answer them.

See how our AI chat assistants, AI email assistant and AI automation work. If your website itself needs work, our charity websites page shows how we build around supporters, volunteers and the people you help.

How would a volunteer enquiry work?

Example workflow, not a client case: on a Saturday evening, someone on a food bank’s website asks whether they can help on weekday mornings. The assistant answers from the charity’s approved volunteer page, then takes the person’s name, email address, availability and the roles that interest them. The request reaches the volunteer coordinator’s inbox with those details attached, and the coordinator replies on Monday with the next step.

If the person asks about checks for a role, the assistant repeats only the process the charity has published and offers a call with the coordinator. It confirms no role and makes no promise on its own.

For a grant application, a fundraiser gives the assistant the funder’s questions and the charity’s approved project summary. It drafts plain-English answers and lists what it could not find, such as last year’s numbers. The fundraiser checks and edits every line before the charity submits it.

What should trustees agree before switching it on?

  • Choose one routine job, such as volunteer enquiries or supporter replies, and approve the wording the assistant can use.
  • Agree a short AI-use policy that says what the assistant may and may not do, and who reviews it.
  • List the questions it must always hand to a person, including safeguarding, anyone at risk, complaints, casework, media requests and anything urgent.
  • Name the person who checks every draft before it is sent or submitted, including every grant figure, outcome and promise to a funder.
  • Keep casework and sensitive personal details out of the assistant unless your data protection policy covers that use, and decide who can see enquiry records and when they are deleted. Our guide to AI and GDPR covers the basics.
  • Keep your supporter and volunteer records in your own system. The assistant drafts and collects; it is not your record of what happened.

These are setup boundaries, not a promise that software keeps your charity compliant with fundraising, data protection or charity law. Your trustees remain responsible for those decisions.

What does Buzzozo manage for you?

You get a website built around your charity, Buzzozo cloud hosting, ongoing changes and support, and an AI chat assistant with a monthly usage allowance. We set it up from the information and policies you approve, so supporters and volunteers get answers while your team is with the people you help.

A custom small-business website from a UK agency typically costs £2,000–£7,000 for the design alone. Ongoing hosting, changes and support need their own scope. That range is a guide, not a quote for your project; VAT treatment was not stated in the published guide, read on 29 October 2026.

Website plan: £149/month. Start with a 14-day free trial, no card needed, cancel any time. See the Website plan for the full service, or read more about AI for your business.

Connections to supporter databases, fundraising platforms or accounting systems are separate work. We agree the scope before building them. The assistant does not replace your staff, your volunteers or professional advice.

Questions about AI for charities

What can AI do for a charity?

It can answer approved questions from supporters, volunteers and people looking for your services, take down the details your team needs, and draft routine replies, reminders and grant-application sections for a person to check. Start with one admin job, such as volunteer enquiries. Your staff and trustees keep every decision.

Will it handle safeguarding concerns or give advice?

No. Safeguarding concerns, anyone who may be at risk, complaints and requests for legal, financial or medical advice go straight to a named person in your team. The assistant does not answer them. It can show the emergency and support contacts your charity has published.

Can it write our grant applications?

It can draft sections from the project information, figures and reports your team approves, and list the facts it still needs. It does not judge eligibility, invent outcomes or submit anything. A person checks every figure, promise and outcome before an application goes to a funder.

Can it take donations?

No. It can explain the ways to give that you have published and link to the donation service you already use. It never takes payments or card details, and it does not decide whether a gift qualifies for Gift Aid.

Is it safe to use with supporter and beneficiary information?

It works from the information you approve, and we agree with you what it can see. Keep casework and sensitive personal details out of it unless your data protection policy covers that use. You decide who can read enquiry records and when they are deleted.

What is included in the Website plan?

The Website plan is £149/month. It includes a custom website, Buzzozo cloud hosting, ongoing changes and support, and an AI chat assistant with a monthly usage allowance. Connections to supporter databases, fundraising or accounting systems need a separate agreed scope.

Can we try it before paying?

Yes. Start with a 14-day free trial, no card needed, cancel any time. We agree the website and the admin job with you, then your team can review the result before deciding to continue.

Put your charity admin in good order.
