An AI voice agent built around your team.
An AI voice agent is software that speaks on the phone. It can answer routine calls, or call customers to confirm a booking, give a reminder or follow up a quote, and it hands the call to a person when it should. Buzzozo’s standard plans don’t put AI on the phone: our AI receptionist answers website enquiries in writing, and on the Website + CRM plan a missed caller can get a text back. If your business needs an agent that speaks to callers, we scope it as a custom build, with your team approving every word it can say.
No card needed. Cancel any time. Website plan: £149/month.
What does an AI voice agent actually do?
A voice agent does three things in a loop. It listens and turns speech into text, decides what to say from the information and rules you have approved, then speaks the reply. At the end it logs the call, so your team can see who rang, what they wanted and what was agreed. It is only as good as the information it is given, so the setup work is mostly about your wording and your handover rules.
| Routine questions | Opening hours, areas covered, what a service includes and how to get started, answered from wording your team has checked. |
|---|---|
| Booking requests | Takes the caller’s name, number and preferred time. Your team confirms the booking, unless a calendar connection has been agreed and tested as part of the build. |
| Reminders and confirmations | Calls customers who have booked, the day before a visit or appointment, and logs anyone who wants to change the time for your team to call back. |
| Quote follow-ups | Checks that a quote arrived and whether the customer has questions, then passes any questions to the person who wrote it. |
| Handover to a person | Complaints, upset callers, anything urgent, anyone who asks for a person and every question it cannot answer from approved facts. |
| Never | Taking card details or payments, pretending to be human, or giving financial, legal or clinical advice. |
Do you need a voice agent or an AI receptionist?
For most small businesses the quicker start is in writing: a written answer is easy for your team to check, and the visitor can read it back later. Our AI receptionist answers those enquiries day and night, says clearly that it is an AI and sends every lead to you. It comes switched on in the free 14-day trial. Read what an AI receptionist is for the longer explanation.
| Website enquiries | Answered 24/7 in writing by the AI receptionist, with a usage cap. Included in the Website plan and the free trial. |
|---|---|
| Missed phone calls | The caller gets a text back so they can say what they need. Part of the Website + CRM plan. |
| Spoken phone calls | A voice agent that speaks to callers is not part of the standard plans. We scope it as a custom build and quote it before work starts. |

How would a reminder call work?
Example workflow, not a client case: a plumbing and heating firm wants every customer with a booked visit called the afternoon before. The voice agent rings each customer on the list, says it is an automated assistant calling for the firm, and confirms the day and the time window. If the customer wants to move the visit, it notes the preferred time and tells them the office will call back to confirm. If they want to talk about the job itself, it offers to pass them to the office.
Each call is logged with its outcome, so the office starts the next morning knowing who has confirmed and who needs a call back. The voice agent does not quote prices, diagnose a fault or promise an engineer.
These are service calls to customers who booked. The ICO’s guidance on telephone marketing sets stricter rules for automated marketing calls, which need the person’s specific consent.
What should you agree before it speaks to anyone?
- Choose one type of call to start with, such as reminders for booked visits, and approve the wording the agent can use.
- Agree the opening line, so every caller hears that they are speaking to an automated assistant.
- List the calls it must always hand to a person: complaints, urgent problems, anyone who sounds upset or may need extra support, and anyone who asks.
- Keep card details and payments off the call, and name the route your business already uses.
- Decide whether calls are recorded or transcribed, who can see the records and when they are removed. Our guide to AI and GDPR covers the basics.
- In finance, insurance or education, limit the agent to admin and enquiry support with human review. It never gives financial, legal or clinical advice.
- Name the person who receives every handover and checks the call log.
These are setup boundaries, not a promise that software makes your business compliant. You stay responsible for the calls made in your name and the decisions your team takes.
What does Buzzozo manage for you?
You get a website built around your business, Buzzozo cloud hosting, ongoing changes and support, and a website AI assistant with a monthly usage allowance. We set it up from the information you approve, and every enquiry it takes reaches you.
A custom small-business website from a UK agency typically costs £2,000–£7,000 for the design alone. Ongoing hosting, changes and support need their own scope. That range is a guide, not a quote for your project; VAT treatment was not stated in the published guide, read on 29 October 2026.
Website plan: £149/month. Start with a 14-day free trial, no card needed, cancel any time. See the Website plan for the full service, or read more about AI for your business and AI automation.
A voice agent that speaks on the phone is separate work. We agree what it does, how it connects to your CRM and calendar, and what it costs before building it. It does not replace the people who run your business.
Questions about AI voice agents
What is an AI voice agent?
An AI voice agent is software that holds a spoken phone conversation. It turns the caller’s words into text, chooses a reply from information your business has approved and speaks that reply in a natural voice. It can answer routine questions, take details or call customers who expect a call, and it passes the call to a person when it should.
Does Buzzozo’s AI receptionist answer phone calls?
No. Our AI receptionist answers website enquiries in writing, day and night. It doesn’t answer calls or speak to callers. On the Website + CRM plan, a caller you miss can get a text back so they can say what they need. A voice agent that speaks on the phone is a separate custom build.
Will callers know they are speaking to an AI?
Yes. Every voice agent we scope says it is an automated assistant at the start of the call and offers a person whenever the caller asks for one. It never pretends to be a member of your team.
Can a voice agent call customers for us?
It can call customers who expect a call, such as a reminder the day before a booked visit or a check that a quote arrived. Automated marketing calls need the person’s specific consent under UK rules, so we start with service calls and agree the call list with you.
Can it take payments or card details over the phone?
No. It never takes card details or payments. When a caller wants to pay, it passes them to your team or to the payment route your business already uses.
Can finance, insurance or education businesses use one?
Yes, for admin and enquiry support with human review: taking details, arranging call-backs and answering approved questions about opening hours or how to get started. It never gives financial, legal or clinical advice. Those questions go to a qualified person.
What does it cost, and can we try it first?
The Website plan is £149/month. It includes a custom website, Buzzozo cloud hosting, ongoing changes and support, and a website AI assistant with a monthly usage allowance. Start with a 14-day free trial, no card needed, cancel any time. A voice agent that speaks on the phone is a custom build, scoped and quoted before work starts.
